What They Are
Google Local Services Ads (LSAs) are a pay-per-lead ad format that appears above regular search results and Google Maps when someone searches for a trade service. They show your business name, rating, phone number, and hours — with a “Google Guaranteed” badge if you pass verification.
Unlike standard Google Search ads, you pay only when a homeowner calls or messages you directly through the ad — not when someone clicks through to your website.
How the Google Guaranteed Badge Works
To run LSAs, Google verifies your business before your ads go live. Verification includes:
- identity and background check on the business owner
- proof of relevant trade licence (electricians, plumbers, HVAC, and others in Ontario require this)
- proof of liability insurance
- Google Business Profile in good standing
Once verified, your listing shows the green “Google Guaranteed” checkmark. Google will also reimburse homeowners up to $2,000 CAD if they’re unsatisfied with work booked through an LSA — which is why the badge increases conversion rates.
Availability for GTA Trades
LSAs are available in Canada including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, and surrounding areas. Eligible trades in the GTA include:
- HVAC
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Roofing
- Landscaping and lawn care
- General contracting
- Pest control
- Locksmith
Availability by trade expands periodically. If your trade isn’t listed when you apply, check back every few months.
Cost Model
LSAs charge per lead received, not per click. Lead costs in the GTA typically range from $20–80 depending on trade and competition:

How to Apply
